Xiomara (she/they) has spent over 20 years working for justice as both staff in the non-profit sector and as a volunteer. Xiomara has a deep history working on immigrant rights, voter engagement, reproductive justice, and capacity building. As the daughter of Salvadoran parents, their work has always been centered on raising up migrant leaders to demand economic, social and political justice. Xiomara served as Director of Capacity Building at the Groundswell Fund, where she managed three capacity building programs: The Grassroots Organizing Institute, the Integrated Voter Engagement Program, and the Ecosystem Initiative. In 2019 she embarked on a self-guided Transborder Migrant Justice Leadership fellowship to increase support and visibility for indigenous and LGBT migrant organizations in the U.S. and Mexico. Prior to that, Xiomara led the organizing and electoral work of CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights) for over a decade. Xiomara is a parent of two wonderful children.
